Briefly
A small 4X strategy game that tries to keep the pleasure of expansion without bringing the spreadsheet with it.
Small Suns is a single-player iPhone strategy game about settling planets, researching tech, and expanding before a rival gets too far ahead.
The idea is to keep the satisfying part of 4X — choosing a faction, shaping the match, building toward a plan — and make it fit into shorter phone-sized runs.
The game teaches as it goes. Setup explains what kind of match you are starting, and the in-game coaching helps you understand what just happened instead of burying you in rules.
What I built
- Faction choice and match setup make each run feel intentional.
- Coaching explains rival movement, research pressure, and likely next steps without stopping the game.
- The main menu, faction selection, setup, and early strategy flow are already in place.
- Daily challenges give the small format a reason to be replayed.
A few notes
- The main menu, faction select, and game setup already show the strategy shape.
- The design is built around learning by playing, not reading a manual first.
- Current polish is about touch feel, clarity, and making the rules easier to read on a phone.
